About the Event

Breath of Fire Ensemble and with its ongoing steps is reevaluating the ways in which we’ve been complicit in white supremacy and finding ways to take brave action. We discussed and are still discussing how we can be active in our solidarity with Black Lives Matter and also in our Orange County, Ca Community. One way is to hold space. Holding Space for those who need it through writing. A process we’ve practiced and believe in. A hope, a desire that through writing: we can be empowered, listen, support and amplify voices that are and have been underrepresented. And, to activate radical imaginations that have been stifled or diminished. We hope this is a time not only for our community but a transformative time for us as an ensemble and all. We also have additional opportunities for more writing: Playwriting with Diana Burbano, Literary Director Thursday's @ 6pm Intermediate to Advance level Sunday Power Hour @10am supported by Elizabeth Isela Szkeresh, ensemble member We know these are a few steps and the conversation and actions continue, and the ways we are taking a stand with Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) theatre artists, administrators and workers today and join the national movement to demand change towards an anti-racist American Theatre now. We thank you for your commitment to us as an ensemble.
