“Gina” Maria Regina Michale Davidson was a much-loved human being, tia, and artist. A graduate of St. Callistus, Mater Dei, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where she received her undergraduate and Masters degrees. Her two great passions were her work and her family.  Gina shared her love for the arts and for her culture with her family and community of artists. She was an educator at CalArts and Orange County School of the Arts where she taught stagecraft and design. She shared her passion and knowledge of theatre and design with those also pursuing their interest in these areas. Throughout her 25+ year career Gina, a member of United Scenic Artist Local 829, worked with various theaters and departments including REDCAT Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, Western Stage, University of California San Diego, University of Nevada Reno, and was a founding member of Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble in Santa Ana, California where she was also a longtime resident.

Unexpectedly, Gina passed away on August 24th, 2015. The loss of her has been heavy. In honoring Gina and her incredible generous ability to inspire others to see themselves as artists and to explore their creative side, Breath of Fire launches The Gina Davidson Memorial Ensemble Artist Grant Fund. The grant will be awarded to a deserving ensemble member(s) who demonstrates the following:

• Leadership initiative
• Commitment to the participation / giving to the organization and supporting its mission and vision
• Making a difference through positive and empowering contributions and involvement in and to the organization and / or the work they create / contribute to
• Demonstrate innovative, critical, creative thinking, dynamic inclusivity, and social responsibility

Breath of Fire invites monetary donations of any size from donors to help lift up our ensemble artists as they move through their journey. Every little bit counts!
